Job Application for seasonal April-October part time help

We have 3 different jobs at 2 different locations that we are hiring for at the present time:

1. Customer Service/Rental office/campground attendant
this job is outlined more specifically below. Must be 16 y.o or older. No previous experience necessary.

2. Kayak/Canoe Tour guide/instructor
We are looking for outgoing, positive people with proficient knowledge of basic kayaking/canoeing strokes and a background in first aid/cpr to lead our team. *Please Note to Apply for a guide/instructor position you must be 21 y.o or older, have a minimum of 2years guiding experience and be certified in CPR/First Aid. We offer competitive pay $30hr(plus tips) as lead guide $16 an hour when not guiding
Job Description for Customer Service/Rental office/campground attendant
Seeking individuals for part time(25-35hrs) We open April 1st. We are looking for applicants who possess exceptional communication, organization, and multitasking skills. Must be able to work weekends and Holidays.  Must be outgoing and personable and able to lift 50 pounds. High School and College students with a love for the outdoors and knowledge of this industry are encouraged to apply as rental office/campground attendants. $16 and up depending on experience

3.  Campground Host/Site Manager 

We have 2 locations that offer rentals and tours of Kayaks on the Illinois River.  We also have one privately owned campground.

Working with us is both highly rewarding and at times challenging. Being outdoors, meeting happy, friendly people and working in such a magnificent environment means that there is often a lot of competition for available positions. As such we only take on the most passionate and professional of applicants.

what are we looking for

All applicants must be at least 16 years of age, be able to work on weekends, be energetic and capable of strenuous physical labor. Applicants will be assessed using the list of key resultant areas in the job description.  The rate of pay is commensurate with experience and is scaled upwards based on positive feedback and reviews by customers.

Overall Purpose of Job

To provide prompt and courteous customer support i.e. dispensing of Kayak/canoe rentals, collection of rental fees, in a safe and friendly manner that maximizes the potential for repeat business.

Performance Expectations

Deal with any administration matters in a friendly, efficient and polite manner.
Ensure each customer has signed a waiver and that all rental/tour payments are collected and accounted for.
Determine each customers level of experience based on a preparticipation screening.

Provide an overview of the rental/tour that the customer is about to experience and provide a safety talk.

Demonstrate how to enter/exit the kayak safely, provide instructions on correct paddling techniques and how to exit in the event of a capsize. Put customers into kayaks/onto water in a safe and timely manner.

Key Result Areas

Deal with customer inquiries in an effective and empathic manner. Refer any problems or complaints to the GM

At all times, promote KayakMorris.com as a professional business through a neat and tidy appearance (including wearing the

KayakMorris.com uniform) and ensuring our high quality equipment is always clean and well-maintained

Encourage repeat business by maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction.

Ensure you have a good understanding of all rental/tour itineraries to assist business promotion. Up-sell and cross-sell other KayakMorris.com trips by ensuring customers are aware of the wide range of rentals/trips we offer, promoting skills advancement, using maps to explain other trips, handing out brochures, etc

Safety & Risk Management

Check relevant weather to ensure a safe environment.

Speak to GM if alternative site needs to be considered for safety reasons.

• Inspect all equipment to be used prior to each kayak rental/tour and make any necessary adjustments.

• Remain fully conversant with emergency management action plans and search and rescue plans

• Ensure all accidents and incidents are appropriately attended to and reported on by an experienced team member

using correct procedures. Ensure all details on relevant form are completed (precise documentation)

Maintenance of Kayak/Canoe Equipment

• Maintain a tidy work environment

• go through checklist to make sure all equipment is returned

• Regular review of stock and through the GM, timely arrangement of any orders required

• Identify any faulty Kayak/Canoe equipment and report immediately to GM to arrange Kayak/Canoe repairs/replacement

• Reflect, in attitude and performance, the standards KayakMorris.com encourage thereby acting as a role model for other team members

• Update the GM regarding any problems or issues
